Mascher Space Coop

http://www.perpetualmvmtsnd.org
Perpetual Mvmt<>Snd offers a fourth episode in the performance series The Rashomon Effect, an improvised score featuring live music and dance and based on the storytelling method employed in Akira Kurosawa's 1950 film Rashomôn. The term "Rashomon effect" refers to the effect of subjectivity on recollection, by which observers of an event are able to produce substantially different but equally plausible accounts of it. In The Rashomon Effect, the performers inhabit an improvised score in which sound and movement themes are introduced and revisited by each, morphing and expanding as memories do.
Sound: Bilwa and Mikronesia, lap guitarist Jeb Lewis, and violist Martha Savery
Movement: Jil Stifel, Allison Lorenzen, Rebecca Patek, and Emily Sweeney
Visuals: Blaine Siegel
If you can't join us for this one, there will be a fifth installment of The Rashomon Effect on Saturday, April 26, 2008 at 8PM at Mascher Space Coop, featuring additional performers and building on the fourth installment.
