I'm pleased to announce a new Mikronesia album has been released today. vxvii is out now on Kikpu. Sadly this will be the last release ever on the formidable net label. They're shutting their doors after seven years of great music. As with all kikapu release, this one's free, so go download it! Kikapu uses one my personal favorite tools on all of the web, archive.org as a way to distribute the free MP3s.
You can download vxvii here at - http://www.archive.org/details/kpu109
The album was recorded mostly in 2007. I actually started it on my birthday in 2006. Those familiar with the Mikronesia sound from 2005-2007 will really like this stuff. It's very melodic and emotional music, with meticulously etched layers of noise and melody. vxvii is kind of a companion piece to my 2006 album about the last few moments of someone's life, Tissue Paper Ghosts. This album is about birth and life.
I'm very proud of this work. I hope you enjoy it. Thanks to Brad for all his dedication to great music through Kikapu over the years and for making this the swan song of his label. Also thanks to William Fields for recording the live track "Gate" for this album as well.
