Happy new year

Is it too late to say that? Anyway, happy new year. Getting back into the swing of things. Gemini Wolf had their first rehearsal in about a month last night. We're excited to be playing Johnny Brenda's in two weeks. Tonight, I'm headed off to rehearse with Perpetual Mvmt< >Snd for the next Rashomon Effect show. The general idea of the performance is going to playing with silence and space. I'm going to experiment with a super minimal setup with just melodica and effect pedals, should be interested. I believe Bilwa is just going to have turntable. We're so pleased that brilliant cellist, Helena Espvall is going to be returning for her second performance. The fourth "sound" member is going to be silence. So we're going to really explore minimal playing as an accompaniment for modern dance led by Emily Sweeney.
Coming up tomorrow I'll be DJing some tracks mixed with live MIDI sequencing and synths at the Fire (3rd and Girard). I'll be playing all night between and after bands at Zelda Pinwheel's CD release party for the new album For SafeKeeping Warm. You can read a review here in the Philadelphia Weekly.
